Content creation is something that you might hear a lot about because every online marketing or business podcast is talking about this in some way, but as an artist, even one who has been studying marketing and business for the last decade, it is actually really challenging to translate all of the marketing stuff to the art world.
Particularly because I think the majority of artists don’t realize that - actually, you ARE a business, you ARE a start up all on your own, you ARE a brand.
Almost everything is different about the way that business now a days is run online and the way that we are building our tribes and audiences now is honestly a totally different animal then it was ten years ago.
I actually believe that being an artist right now, is the best time to be an artist in all of time and history because we DON’T have to have the middle man, the label, the publisher, the manager, the curator, ….because everything is online, we get to have direct contact with our audiences and build those relationships organically.
When you commit to creating quality, value-driven content designed specifically to improve the lives of your audience, you’re committing to creating continued growth, a loyal fanbase, and eventually a sustainable business foundation for your art to build on.
And you may be asking yourself, as a musician, how am I supposed to create value for someone else when ...people aren’t even buying music anymore?! It feels like what I have to give isn’t even valuable to people…
Friend, if you can relate to that feeling in any way, this episode is for you. Regardless of what kind of art you are creating, if you are an opera singer or actor that is recently finding yourself out of a job because of Covid, now is the time to build your brand, build your online tribe, and realize your value.
